Terms of Service
Effective 25 July 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Honeycutt Inc. covering your use of Gerefa.
1. Agreement
Gerefa is a home-maintenance record and reminder service operated by Honeycutt Inc.(“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Gerefa, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and able to enter into a binding contract.
2. Your account
Gerefa signs you in with a link emailed to your address—there is no password. Anyone who can read your email can therefore sign in as you. Keeping your email account secure is your responsibility, and you are responsible for activity under your account.
Tell us promptly at gerefa@honeycutt.com if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. Households, roles, and who can see what
Your records live in a household. A household has an owner, and may have co-owners, members, and viewers. Your role determines what you can do:
- Owners and co-owners can edit household settings, manage people, reveal stored device setup codes, and read the activity log. Only an owner can delete the household or grant support access.
- Members can create and edit records.
- Viewers can read only.
Anything you add to a household is visible to the other people in it, subject to those roles and to any properties marked restricted. Do not put information in a household that you are not willing to share with its members. If you own a household, you decide who joins it and you are responsible for those invitations.
Household owners exercise control over the household's records, including export and deletion. If you are a member rather than an owner, the owner may remove your access or delete records you created.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you put into Gerefa—your records, documents, and photos. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store, copy, transmit, display, and back up your content so we can show it to you and the people you have authorised.
You are responsible for having the right to store what you upload. This matters particularly for information about other people—for example a contractor's name, phone number, and email address. Only store third-party details where you are permitted to, and keep them accurate.
5. Maintenance suggestions are general information, not professional advice
This is the most important section of these terms. Gerefa suggests maintenance tasks, schedules, and whether a job is typically do-it-yourself or one to hire out. All of it is general information, not advice about your specific home, and you are responsible for deciding what your home actually needs.
Our starter suggestions are grouped by a broad climate zone, which we estimate from your postal code or which you select yourself. A climate zone covers a very large area. It cannot account for your microclimate, an unusual season, your home's age, construction, condition, or history, or local codes and requirements. Suggested timing—when to prepare for a freeze, service equipment, or inspect a roof—is a starting point to adjust, not a schedule to follow blindly.
The do-it-yourself and hire-a-professional labels are likewise general. A task labelled do-it-yourself may still be unsafe for a particular person, home, or situation. Work involving gas, electricity, heights, structural elements, refrigerant, water supply, or anything requiring a permit or licence should be done by a qualified professional, whatever label appears in the app.
Gerefais not a home inspection, and it is not a substitute for a professional inspection, a licensed contractor, or your equipment manufacturer's instructions. Where our suggestion conflicts with a manufacturer's instructions, warranty terms, or applicable law, follow those instead.
You are solely responsible for the maintenance you perform or arrange, for hiring competent people, and for the safety of everyone involved. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for property damage, loss, injury, or cost arising from maintenance you did, did not do, or timed differently than you should have.
6. Links to other sites
Some tasks link to how-to material published by other organisations. Those sites are not ours. We do not control, endorse, or guarantee their content, and we are not responsible for it or for what happens if you rely on it. Links can also break or change over time. Your use of a linked site is governed by that site's own terms.
7. AI features
Gerefaoffers optional AI features that read your household's own records to answer questions or suggest details from a photo. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading. Treat it as a draft: check it against the underlying record before you rely on it, and never treat it as professional, legal, financial, or safety advice.
AI suggestions are never written to your records automatically—you confirm them first. Do not type secrets, passwords, or device setup codes into an AI prompt.
AI features are optional and may be turned off, changed, limited, or withdrawn. Section 5 applies to AI output in full.
8. Stored device setup codes
Gerefacan store smart-home setup codes encrypted, so the plaintext is never held in our database. Revealing a stored code requires an owner or co-owner and a recent re-authentication, and every reveal is recorded in your household's log.
Gerefa is not a password manager and is not intended for banking credentials, government identifiers, or other high-value secrets. You remain responsible for who you make an owner or co-owner of your household.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or store content you have no right to store;
- attempt to access another household's data, or probe, scan, or test our security;
- interfere with the service, circumvent limits, or automate abusive volumes of requests;
- upload malware, or content that is unlawful or harmful;
- resell or redistribute the service without our written permission.
10. Plans and payment
Gerefa is currently provided at no charge while it is in development, and we do not collect payment details today. We intend to offer paid subscriptions. If we introduce charges, we will tell you before any fee applies to you and you will be able to decline by discontinuing use. Any paid plan will have its own pricing, billing cycle, and refund terms, presented at the time of purchase.
Plan limits may apply to storage, AI usage, or the number of households, properties, or people. A billing dispute or an unpaid balance will never be used to withhold your access to export your own records.
11. Availability and changes
Gerefa is under active development. Features may change or be removed, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We do not promise any particular uptime. We may impose reasonable rate limits.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Gerefa at any time and delete your account from your settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or to protect the service or other users. Where we can, we will tell you why.
A suspended household becomes read-only rather than inaccessible: you keep the ability to read and export your records. We may also preserve a household beyond a deletion request where we are legally required to—for example under a legal hold arising from a dispute or official process—in which case deletion is paused, not silently completed.
13. Export and deletion
You can export your records at any time from your settings, and you can request deletion of your account. Deletion is not immediate: it waits 30 days, during which you can cancel by signing in. After that window your account and personal data are removed.
If you are the only owner of a household, you must transfer ownership or delete that household before your account can be deleted—otherwise the household's other members would be left without an owner. See the Privacy Policy for what an export contains and what is retained.
14. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gerefa is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that suggestions or AI output will be accurate or suitable for your home, or that reminders will always be delivered on time. Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee—do not rely on Gerefa alone for anything safety-critical.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Honeycutt Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or property damage, arising out of or relating to your use of Gerefa.
Our total liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for Gerefa in the twelve months before the claim, or 100 US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of sections 14 and 15 may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Honeycutt Inc.against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your content, your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of another person's rights—including claims relating to third-party personal information you stored in Gerefa.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will give reasonable notice—by email or in the app—before it takes effect. Continuing to use Gerefa after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms. The effective date is shown at the top of this page.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts located there will have exclusive jurisdiction—except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
